Cycles per minute versus finished packs per hour

Cycles per minute and finished packs per hour describe different quantities. To compare usable output, agree the pack layout and product conditions, then measure accepted finished packs over a defined run.

Read the unit before the number

A cycle is a repeated machine action. A blister card can contain several cavities, and a cutting cycle can release more than one card. Items, cards, cavities and finished packs are different counting units. Always name the unit in an equipment quotation.

Do not multiply a headline speed by a lane count

The KP-4 reference lists four sealing lanes and 22-28 cycles/min. Those figures do not establish a guaranteed finished-pack rate. Pack dimensions, usable lanes, dosing time, material behavior and rejects still matter.

Define the acceptance run

Specify the formulation, nominal dose, film construction, cavity layout, run duration and the counting point. Record accepted packs, rejected packs and stoppages. Agree how start-up, changeovers and planned stops are treated.

Use a consistent production target

Tell the supplier the accepted packs required per working hour and shift. If upstream mixing or downstream cartoning constrains the process, include those conditions in the line discussion. A comparison is useful only when every offer uses the same conditions.
